After Effects Animation: Sign Language

December 13, 2011

For our final animation project, we had to create a short animated piece using Adobe After Effects. Below is a collaborative effort by me, Bruna Calheiros, and Allison Berman. Enjoy!

Unattended Sandwich

November 23, 2011

For our Communications Lab: Animation class’s our first production assignment involved developing a storyboard for a stop motion animation and then shooting it with a digital camera and editing with Dragon StopMotion . Kim Ash and I developed a story about my putting down a sandwich and having to leave and then several pom pom characters, which we made from items from Blick Art store nearby on Bond Street would pop out of a hole and eat the sandwich and leave. This all took place within the confines of a classroom at ITP. (We originally wanted to use a real kitchen but opted to use the classroom since we could not take the production laptops outside ITP.)

We re-worked our plot a numbers of times and spent most of what little time we had trying to move each and every size pom pom character to move either across the floor, up the legs of the table;  the sandwich pieces on the plate, and out of a hole in the brick wall. All and all we had a fun time creating the story and shooting but the both of us agree that we completely underestimated how much time and energy goes into making a piece with a story and the time it takes to work your way through programs (such as Final Cut Pro) to produce a piece you can be proud of.
